Brutal Truth

Ayn Rand said that Robin Hood:

"assumed a halo of virtue by practicing charity with wealth he did not own."

and also that he:

"became a justification for every mediocrity who, unable to make his own living, had demanded the power to dispose of the property of his betters, by proclaiming his willingness to devote his life to his inferiors at the price of robbing his superiors."

Ouch. Happy Inauguration Day to you all.

  1. Why is this so funny to me? I do not know, but it is. Maybe it's because not long ago, your husband said to me, "If we can just last another month..." Confused, I didn't say anything. So he continued, "... because then Obama will make all our problems go away." Yes, that's probably why this post makes me laugh.

  2. Ha! The only thing I will add is that Robin Hood stole from the government (the king) to give to the people. Obama is going to steal from the people and give to the government.

  3. Did you photoshop that picture? You're awesome (and brave).

Yeah so I'm a little worried about the future... but I still feel a bit of the hope. And you can't really deny that it's pretty amazing we have a black president.

I just laughed about the picture again.

  5. angela: the picture was a super-quick-mother-of-four photoshop job. don't look too close.

ryan: true, if you are referring to the disney version of robin hood, which was released in 1973. i think rand's harsh assessment of robin hood was referring to the earlier english folk tales where he simply robbed the rich and gave to the poor. still an interesting thought.

  6. Hehehe. You make me laugh.

On a side note, I'm still curious what would have happened if ol' Schanze would have won in Utah. Or maybe not.
